Out here in the East Coast it is very popular to go Rockfish fishing. For all of those who live West of the Mississippi Rockfish are Striped Bass. Dave had an awesome opportunity to go Rockfish fishing last weekend with a guy who he met at a charity even who lives on the Eastern Shore. Dave invited his friend Ben….and boy did their little adventure turn into one awesome man date.
The boys left Owings Mills (where we live) around 4:45am Saturday morning and made it over the big bridge to the Eastern Shore just in time to set sail around 6am. The weather forecast wasn’t great, and Chad and Ryan (the brothers who own the boat) told Ben and Dave that they might not catch anything since the Rockfish season was close to being done. As they got out on to the water, the waves started to get pretty big, and a lot of the other boats went in….but our boys decided to tough it out (with Dramamine in hand of course). It was a good thing they decided to stay out on the water because Dave was about to catch a whale of a fish. Here is the picture story of Dave’s big catch….
Soon after Dave caught his fish, it was Ben’s turn to reel one in.
Now the boys went home with three fish that day, but no all of them were “caught” per say. Sometime during their outing the boat had to made a sharp turn in order to avoid hitting a sail boat. While making the turn, Dave thought that one of the poles was acting as it a fish was hooked to it. Chad and Ryan reassured Dave that it was probably just making that movement due to the sharp turn. Come to find out, there really was a fish on that pole and the guys had just been towing it along for 2 hours and basically drowned the lil’ fella. It was quite the surprise when they were reeling in all the poles.
SURPRISE!
Some good looking fish!

On Sunday night we decided to grill up the Rockfish with Ben and Caitlin. We put some lemon pepper seasoning as well as some lemon pepper marinade on the fish and it was DELISCIOUS! I’m not a huge seafood eater…but this fish was very mild, and flaky.
I think it was a great experience for Dave and Ben and I was so proud that they actually took pictures to document their trip! Thanks boys for some tasty fish!

I don't know why but you tell it better than I do! Mmmmm that fish was soooo good. They need to do that every weekend. Can you imagine our Omega 3 levels if they did?!?
Man date was a hit.
