Like I mentioned earlier Dave and I made a last second decision to go to Puerto Rico for the BYE Week. We got an amazing deal on our airfare and hotel. We were able to fly to PR and stay in the Ritz Carlton for cheaper than just flying to Utah or Colorado. Besides…PR offered 90 degree weather and the ocean!
Dave and I had such a great time and it was so nice just to have some “US” time. We laughed, played jokes on each other, held hands, caught up on life and just plain enjoyed each other’s company.
We had two full days in PR in which we played in the ocean, relaxed, took walks on the beach, took a tour of a rainforest and Dave was able to get a great massage.
The only crazy thing that happened while we were there is that a fuel refinery on the island exploded. The explosion was equivalent to a 2.8 earthquake. We were sleeping when it happened and didn’t really feel it but we could see the incredible smoke cloud the next day. We got some pretty amazing pictures of the smoke.
The bathroom in our hotel.
The closet in our hotel room. I’m pretty sure its bigger than our closet at home.
Main area.
View from the balcony.
Front of the hotel.
View of ocean from our hotel.
PR’s version of corn hole! It was so fun to play!
Dave’s first dip in the ocean.
Not a bad view ;-)
The view from our table at lunch on the first day.
An iguana that a hotel employee caught on the beach. That thing was HUGE!
On the first night we went to an awesome Hibachi grill. Our chef was amazing.
An amazing waterfall at the El Yunque rainforest.
A snail we found on a tree in the rainforest.
A huge observation tower that we climbed to look out over the island.
Our second night in PR we took a taxi and went towards Old San Juan for dinner. We ate at Morton’s steakhouse in the Hilton hotel. Here is the smoke cloud developing over the island.
The smoke cloud gave the island such an eerie feeling.
The pool area of our hotel.
